This is an arrangement of the Funeral Music for Queen Mary II by Henry Purcell. I did this arrangement for the Hobart City Band and the Tasmania University Musical Society in 2001, at a time where I was very new to conducting both groups. I aimed to make the original music shine through, but with an added element of colour through orchestration that the original eschews.
Instrumentation: 2 Flutes, Oboe, Bassoon, 2 Clarinets, Bass Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, 2 Trumpets, Horn in F, 2 Trombones, Euphonium, Double Bass, Timpani, SATB Choir.
