In Infinite Affinities, the endless possibilities and continuous development of the string quartet are celebrated. This development and constant reinvention is mirrored through both the pitch material, which strictly derived from Per Nørgård’s constantly growing and developing infinity series and the lens this operates under, that of less “classical” genres not considered typical for a string quartet such as progressive metal, jazz fusion and ambient music.
The first performance of Infinite Affinities was given by the Affinity Quartet on the 29th of July, 2023 at the Melbourne Recital Center.
