In 2001 I was invited to compose a short work for a string quartet to be performed by the string section leaders of the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra. The occasion was a memorial service for Claudio Alcorso, an important supporter of the arts in Tasmania. The piece is brief but deeply felt, as I knew Claudio and his wife, Leslie, often attending musical occasions at their Moorilla home.
