One of the multitude of difficulties that a hospital patient faces is the isolation from the natural world. In Glow, I hoped to instill the sense of optimism and freedom that comes with exploring the great outdoors, interacting with animals, and enjoying fresh air. Concurrently I also wished to engage with elements from current music styles such as instrumental post-rock and electronic music as I felt it fitted with the Hush Foundation’s focus on adolescent care for this year. The name “Glow” refers to the natural phenomena I enjoyed near Hobart where the water glows from bioluminescent algae in the water during the evenings.
