This wind quintet piece has the subtitle 'Rue Paris' as it came to me in Europe, after a long weekend in Paris. While I didn't walk the streets at 3am, that's the mood I wanted to convey - music wafting up from a basement bar, picturing in my mind a last lone couple dancing slowly to a band that just wants to go home, but the couple are so wrapped up in each other they don't respond to anything else in the room. Jabra Latham's arrangement evokes this perfectly.
