The piece takes the instrument itself as a starting point, and is inspired by the well-established idioms of solo clarinet writing including extremes of register and dynamic, large leaps, and fast passagework. Whilst writing, the musical line always had a sense of momentum and inertia in my mind as if dancing within in an imaginary physical space, hence the title, Choreographies.
