Jackson grew up in regional NSW and first picked up the trombone in the town of Orange, where he quickly discovered a love for music. That early spark turned into a passion for performing, eventually leading him to his current role as Tutti Trombone with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance Honours) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He completed further study at the Australian National Academy of Music where, in 2019, he was a member of the first brass quintet to win ANAM's prestigious chamber music competition.
Jackson has performed with various other professional orchestras across Australia including with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Opera Australia Orchestra, and West Australian Symphony Orchestra. He has also been involved in the recording of soundtracks for several films and television shows.
An accomplished arranger, Jackson brings a new life to music of diverse genres, arranging everything from classical to pop. Several of his arrangements have premiered by members of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Outside the realm of music, Jackson is a seasonal colour analyst and enjoys helping people discover the colours that help them look their best. He is also an avid board game enthusiast, boasting an ever-expanding collection.
