Naomi Dodd

Emotional connection with listeners through sensitive, passionate and inspired music

is at the heart of Naomi Dodd’s work. Her musical style draws from impressionist,

romantic and modern Australian influences, while her inspiration is deeply connected

to her emotional sensitivities with compositions often reflecting Naomi’s experiences

and impressions of subjects such as Australian landscapes and coastlines, home and

shared human experiences.

Regularly commissioned to write new works in the Australian art music world, Naomi’s

recent achievements include her appointment as Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s

2024 Young Composer in Residence, selection for Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra’s

2024-25 Australian Composers’ School and orchestral arrangement work for indie rock

duo, Lime Cordiale for their Australian Symphony Orchestras tour. Beyond orchestral

works, recent commissions include works for chamber ensembles and solo artists,

including Flinders Quartet, Omega Ensemble, flautist Eliza Shephard and guitarist Matt

Withers.

Naomi’s work is regularly broadcast on ABC Classic and performed across Australia by

acclaimed major orchestras (MSO, TSO, SSO, AYO), chamber ensembles and

community groups. Her work has also been performed by a number of orchestras

across the USA, including Awesöme Orchestra Collective (California), Symphony of the

Redwoods (California) and Oakland Civic Orchestra.

Naomi’s belief that all people possess an innate potential for musical appreciation

shapes her desire to create music that reaches and impacts all who listen.
