The title "Engelstrompeten" presented itself spontaneously. At the time of composing the piece I was interested in researching different kinds of plants and their various properties. I had come accross "angel's trumpet" [Brugmansia suaveolens, syn.: Datura suaveolens] on my bike rides which suggested itself as a suitable title for the sounds I was interested in expressing in the brassband context. The German title is a personal preference rather than cultural reference, the piece can just as accurately be referred to as "angel's trumpets".
