This work in three movements seeks to present the idea of neuroplasticity expressed in, as and through musical form. It arises partly in response to the currently fashionable myth of ”artificial intelligence” and its being perceived in terms of salvation and/or nemesis. My work Neuroplastizität (German spelling simply because it is the language in which I think, conceive and work) intends to debunk such inanity by demonstrating that humans are necessary for original work and that nothing arises ”by chance”. In plain language: a computer could not have generated this piece of music (or, for that matter, this introduction).

Neuroplastizität
concept - 6'45"
context - 8'05"
content (xiii) - 8'35"

Note for performers:
A ”chaabi” rhythm recurs throughout the piece in 6/8. There is no ”downbeat”: the lower pulse repeats on the 5, the upper pulses enter first time on 2, second time on 3 respectively. This rhythm also appears beyond the boundaries of 6/8 notation and is the rhythmic identity shaping the work. The movements may be interpreted and performed separately but, given time, space, energy and resources, preferably as a whole in the order given.
