This piece, which started as solo piano, has been arranged by Jabra Latham for a large ensemble. The piece begins with echoes of a pastorale, but instead of idyllic scenes of sheep knee deep in green pasture, this music evokes the green landscape and fertility of Arnhem Land. The piece shifts back and forth between this calm and rolling motif to more jarring musical statements, this time echoing blasts from mine sites and destructive human activity. The trigger for this music was a poem by Bob Brown which he wrote soon after being taken into sacred land near Jabiluka by local Indigenous women. The music is intended to be affirming, but with a warning not to wreck Nature.
