This work was originally composed for my student composition collegue, Joseph Richards. Very quickly I decided to make a version for my own instrument, the 'cello, which became my Sonatina no. 1 - the start of what is now a series of eight 'cello Sonatinas.
In 2024 I decided to revisit and rework the original version - but discovered that it was lost. I have therefore made this new version, partially using the cello material, and partially from remembering the original work.
