Five Reflections in five movements, each movement telling a story through rhythm and sound and explores percussion fundamentals such as Snare Drum technique in rudimental and orchestral styles, improvisation, sound, creativity and organisation. The first movement, “Girly", is a traditional march, but in ¾ time and incorporates foundational rudiments such as buzz and double stroke rolls, flams and drags. “Southbank Strut” is unconventional and incorporates movement and theatre as it strides through Southbank, searching for creative ways to make music along the way. The third movement, “PPP”, uses a more orchestral approach, exploring dynamics, time signature changes, rhythmical precision, inner groove and strong lines. “Bossa and Ragtime” utilises impeccable grooves and endearing unpredictability to bring these two dance styles to life. The fifth and final movement "Improvisation" is a reflection on all the musical influences we might have had as students and challenges us to consolidate them to bring this movement to life.
