My father was diagnosed with cancer in January 2020 which he fought bravely for the next nearly four years. Never a man to wallow in self pity he decided to throw a huge party to celebrate his life on his 72nd birthday in October, 2022 - knowing he was unlikely to see his 73rd. For my contribution to the event I composed this meditation on 'Happy Birthday' - blues influenced, both poignant and joyous. Shortly after the event my Father moved to France where he had always intended to retire and where he and his wife, Di, had been living part time for over a decade - hence the French title - and where he died peacefully at his home in Le Bugue in August, 2023.
