In 1968. The Australian Broadcasting Commission asked 20 Australian composers to write short works in honour of the 86th birthday of Igor Stravinsky. These works, when completed, provided two half-hour broadcast programmes. ‘Dance Movement’ was selected as one of the 11 orchestral pieces recorded on an LP, performed by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Patrick Thomas.
This 2003 version replaces the piano part with the harp and two percussion parts to enable performances for “Symphony Under the Stars” concerts in Hobart and Launceston in February 2003, by the TSO.
