Greg Woodward

Greg Woodward is a Tasmanian-born composer and cellist. His music strongly reflects the varied styles he has performed in, from folk to orchestral, new music ensembles to jazz, rock bands, music theatre and improvised looping. Greg’s music is harmonically approachable, but also intricate and rhythmically complex. He has written four string quartets, and a number of character pieces and miniatures for string ensembles and piano, along with original works for folk music ensemble Donuts at Midnight and jazz group Django’s Tiger. His second string quartet Aqua Vitae was recently performed by the Hobart Chamber Orchestra in a reimagined concerto grosso format, and other pieces have been performed by the Xyris Saxophone Quartet and Karen Smithies.
