This piece is in 4 parts: First introduction passage; Part II - Marrkap (Wugularr Dawn); Part III Marrkap (Two Shadows from One Tree); Part IV Marrkap (Tum Tum / Farewell). The music was inspired by time I spent at Nhulunbuy and nearby Yirrkala in Arnhem Land, and Wugularr, outside Katherine on the opposite edge of Arnhem Land. The music is a direct response to the artwork of Ruby Alderton and Ralwuttandji Wanambi (with verbal permission) and responding to time I spent by invitation with Balang (Tom, E Lewis), famous Indigenous actor and musician. I hope to capture how it is not only visual art and music overlapping on common ground but also cultural experiences building understanding and tolerance.
